Book Gift Packages for Christmas🎄

Christmas is coming!! 🛷

For book lovers everywhere, I've put together a few gift packages for Christmas.

Following the wonderful reception from the book tour of Poppy Loves Devon, I thought it would be nice to put together a package of both books from the Crazy Cream Adventure Series and also for my book, Tammy and Willow.

At the moment, as well as creating book packages, I've been working on the next Poppy adventure. It's coming along really well and should be in the hands of my editor - the fabulous Antonia Prescott, in December. While she has the manuscript, I'll continue working on the illustrations -oh yes, and planning for Christmas - shopping, wrapping presents, writing cards, decorating the house...Phew!! it's busy but a happy and wonderful kind of busy 🎅🏼

The book packages each feature a copy of the book wrapped in tissue paper carefully selected so that it is colour coordinated with the book cover, a book belly, bookmarks designed by myself and a little something extra, which is either retriever-shaped sticky notes or a safari-style pen. All this comes dusted with gold-coloured confetti - and yes, that's doggie themed to match the genre of the books. Can you tell that I like everything to match? 🙂

Here's a quick itinerary of each book package:

Gift Package A

Poppy on Safari.

Book Blurb.

Poppy is a crazy cream retriever - greedy and a bit spoilt, but oh-so loveable!

When her family visit a Safari Park, she's determined not to be left behind. But things don't go to plan. Instead of Poppy meeting exciting wild animals, she is left behind at a dog kennel.

Poppy panics.

What has she done wrong? Why are her beloved family leaving her? Will she ever see them again?

The other dogs tell her about Cain - the famous King of the Safari. Something of great importance has happened to him, but no one knows what that something is. Curiosity is driving the canines crazy.

Meanwhile, Poppy is desperate to escape and find her family. She persuades the others to help by promising to find out what's happened to King Cain. Once free, she begins her search only to bump into another golden retriever puppy called Harley - who's also lost and alone.

Now, Poppy's mission is not only to find her family but Harley's too and solve the mystery surrounding Cain - all whilst lost in a Safari filled with wild, wonderful, friendly and deadly animals - Can she do it?

A must-read for animal lovers!

This is the second book I’ve read by Gillian Young, and enjoyed it so much that I hope she publishes more! She has a true, empathetic approach to both her subject and her audience.

Gift Package B

Poppy Loves Devon

Book Blurb.

Poppy Loves Devon is the second in the Crazy Cream Adventure Series. Following on from Poppy on Safari, the pampered life of this crazy cream retriever is turned upside-down when she discovers a lost puppy whilst on holiday with her family.

Poppy wants to befriend anything that moves, but she’s never successful. It seems all the other animals find her too big, loud and boisterous. Dad is convinced she needs a playmate, but Poppy’s unsure. She enjoys the fuss and attention from her family so much she is not willing to share. The choice is taken away from her when one day, a puppy comes along.

However, Poppy soon discovers the puppy is lost and alone. Her big heart and caring nature kicks in when she discovers a monster lurking in a nearby wood. Poppy must act fast to save the farm, her family – and the puppy. Meanwhile, a handsome border collie ticks all the boxes as the ‘perfect’ dog – but is he? Poppy Loves Devon follows her pursuit of making friends but not realising what’s under her very nose.

Dog lovers you will want to read this amazing adventure

I think author Gillian Young may have started a craze for other people who would like to write about their pet. With the love of her retrievers, Gillian has started an excellent exciting series of books about Poppy the retriever, starting with Poppy On Safari, and now she has done a splendid job with this second book in the series Poppy Loves Devon. I’m already excited about the third book in the series.

Calling all children, all YA fictional readers, dog lovers, you will want to read this amazing adventure about Poppy Loves Devon and Poppy on Safari.

Tammy and Willow

Book Blurb.

Hannah Taylor and her border collie, Tammy, have a special bond. They have grown up together and are so close they practically know each other's thoughts. But when Tammy suddenly falls ill and dies, Hannah is devastated and wonders how she will ever cope with life without her beloved friend.

But life goes on, and Hannah must face a new year at high school. Despite the help of her family and friends, Hannah misses Tammy so much she loses interest in everything, even the famous summer fayre, which occurs every year in the village.

Meanwhile, Tammy is also struggling to work out what is happening. After being desperately ill and falling into a deep sleep, she is now feeling better than ever. But Hannah no longer seems able to see or hear her. What's happened? What's this limbo Tammy has suddenly found herself in? And what's this strange light that follows her?

When a cute, fluffy collie pup called Willow comes into their lives, Hannah cannot help but grow fond of this little ball of fluff. And even better, this little pup is no ordinary dog; she can actually see Tammy.

A beautiful take on life beyond life.

As someone who loves anything remotely spiritual or concerned with life beyond life, coupled with a loving bond to my pets, I loved this book.

After enjoying Gillian's first book "Poppy on safari" I was keen to read this, her second doggy tale. Drawn into the story by the emotional roller coaster and intrigued to know what would come next, I found this an easy read. I'm not going to lie I needed a box of tissues on hand. Not just sad tears but also uplifting, hopeful and truly relatable tears as you follow a young girl's journey with her cherished pets.

A lovely tale of rural life and the bond we have with our beautiful furiends, be they here or passed onto the other side.
